Hollow Form on Bar Chain

Hollow Form on Bar Chain

24"

This project turned out very different than I had first envisioned it. The hollow form oval has one side that I textured using crumpled aluminum foil in the rolling mill. The other side is smooth and shiny.

I had intended for the oval to be suspended on a bar inside an equilateral triangle. Unfortunately, it's really hard to make an equilateral triangle. Plus I originally wanted the oval to be able to spin on the bar while worn, which meant the triangle frame needed to be very deep, and that looked really funky.

So instead I made a bar-link chain, which I'd been wanting to try anyway, and overall I think it came out pretty well. Certainly not geometric, kinetic piece I had originally planned to make, but nice nonetheless.
