One of my goals in my latest semester of metalsmithing class was to learn how to reticulate on purpose. I've had several accidental reticulation experiences, a couple of which turned out giving me a wonderful, if unexpected texture. However, most of those times ruined the piece I was working on.
Since I didn't want to invest a whole bunch of design time in something that I could easily ruin if I wasn't prefectly timed, I chose to use a simple 1" square for this experiement. I like the way it came out. I hope to experiment with incorporating intentional reticulation in more complex designs in the future.
